This
April, HTC will be making three new smartphones available in Malaysia -- the HTC
Legend, HTC HD mini and HTC Smart. While all come with the HTC Sense experience,
each phone is available on three different operating systems.
HTC Legend
The
HTC Legend is the latest Android phone, running on Android 2.1 with a new HTC Sense experience, which continues
to focus on improving interactions with your most important people.
Firstly, there is a new HTC application and widget called Friend
Stream that aggregates all of your social communication including Facebook,
Twitter, and Flickr into one organised flow
of updates. In
addition to Friend Stream, people can be organised into specific social circles.
There
is also a new newsreader application and widget, as well as a new seven-screen
´Leap´ thumbnail view for quick and easy access to specific screens. Additionally, the new
HTC Sense experience also introduces broad improvements to applications
including the browser, email client and others.
The HTC Legend is machined from a single aluminum block into a
seamless compact frame. The
traditional trackball has also been replaced with an optical joystick,
surrounded by a narrow button to improve usability.
Other
features include a 3.2 inch, AMOLED HVGA display, GPS and a 5.0 megapixel colour camera with auto focus, flash and geo-tagging
capabilities.
The Legend also automatically lowers the ringer
volume as soon as the phone is picked up, mutes the ringer when the phone is
flipped face down and backs up certain data and settings
to the microSD card automatically, such as SMS/MMS messages, bookmarks, and
Wi-Fi
passwords.
The
HTC Legend is currently available and is priced at RM1,999. The package includes a 2GB microSD card.
HTC HD mini
The HTC HD mini is a more compact version of the HTC HD2. It runs
on Windows Mobile 6.5
Professional with HTC Sense.
Like the HTC HD2, the HTC HD mini continues
the same focus on people-centric communication with complete Outlook integration and
provides a single contact view that displays individual communication snapshots
of your conversations regardless of whether it was a call, text, status update
or email.
HTC also includes a Windows-based Twitter application, HTC Peep,
enables you to tweet and follow your twitter stream.
HTC HD mini includes a capacitive touch screen
for viewing, zooming and resizing websites, Microsoft Office files, PDF documents
and pictures with just a pinch of your fingers.
Leveraging its 3G broadband connectivity, the HTC HD mini also offers
personal Wi-Fi anywhere for your computer or other devices.
The
HD mini also lowers ringer
volume automatically when you pick up the phone, or raises ringer volume when
the phone is in your bag or pocket, and mutes the ringer when you flip the
phone face down.
The
HTC HD mini is also currently available and priced at RM1,799. The package
includes a 2GB microSD card.
HTC Smart
The HTC Smart is a new type of smartphone for HTC, created for a new
category of easy-to-use, connected smartphones that are accessible by people
all over the world. It runs on Qualcomm´s
Brew Mobile Platform open operating system.
With a compact touch design, the HTC Smart integrates
a user experience that is
centred around HTC Sense.
HTC Smart comes with Scenes, which allows you
to change your home screen according to work or play. For example, on weekdays,
the home screen can show apps like email, calendar and the web browser, while
on work-free weekends, the home screen can bring to the forefront music,
camera, and photo album panels. There´s even a scene that you can personalise
to fit your style and daily needs.
Text messages, emails, call history and Facebook
updates of any one of your contacts can also be shown in a single view. It also includes ´smart touches´ like a single tap that turns your
web browser to landscape mode or that double tap, alias smart zoom, which
enlarges and reflows the text.
The new HTC Smart will be
available in
three colours -- Black, Pink and White from end
April, with
an expected price of RM 799.
